Why Words Matter

The Power of the Tongue

What we say and how we say it can have unimaginable consequences — both good and bad.

I’ll start with a Facebook post I wrote in April of 2020 that just recently went over the 1,000 Likes mark.

This may sound harsh but it is true. Words matter and are powerful. The old saying, “Sticks and stone can break my bones, but words can never hurt me,” is rubbish. The names you call things — the words you say to yourself and to others — become a reality in unseen and hidden ways.

Speak the reality you wish to see.

Here is another one of those sage sayings that my mother taught me. “Watch out what you say. Once the words get out of your mouth, you can’t reach out and stuff them back in. And some people never forget or forgive what you said.”

I wish I would have executed that more often than I did.
