You Got This
God Governs. God is Good.
Life isn’t always pretty. It can be excruciatingly hard. But God is redeeming, loving, and watching over us all.
As I prepared this email, a volcano erupted in the Congo. A town was built right on top of it. The town was devastated. A large percentage of people died.
One of my very close friends who has walked with me for many years just contracted COVID.
Another friend is going through a very contentious court proceeding to settle disagreements over their divorce.
I have several friends who are dealing with elderly parents who have dementia.
In my travels around the world, I have walked into very dark places and seen the very worst side of humanity.
Are you depressed yet? I am not. Without the hope of a powerful and loving God, I certainly would be downtrodden. But our God is redeeming, loving, and watches over us all.
God is all-powerful and all-knowing. He is bigger and better than we can imagine. He governs the world. I know, I know...then why do all these bad things keep happening? In the beginning, mankind rebelled, wanting to be like God. That did not work out well.
Is our world broken? Do we face challenges every day? Yes. These challenges help us create ourselves.
God has promised never to leave us or forsake us. And to never give us more than we can handle. He created us with incredible resiliency. The dictionary defines resilience as, “the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness.”
I marvel every day witnessing people overcome obstacles in their lives. Physical disabilities, mental and emotional challenges, moral failures, financial hurdles.
God rules over the world through both his active and permissive will. He both makes things happen and He allows things to happen. Don’t ask me why about any particular circumstance you may be facing. But I do know he is faithful.
“No temptation has come your way that is too hard for flesh and blood to bear. But God can be trusted not to allow you to suffer any temptation beyond your powers of endurance. He will see to it that every temptation has a way out, so that it will never be impossible for you to bear it.”
Are you someone who wants to make a difference in the world around you? God uses us to accomplish much of His will. He calls us to be His hands and feet. This is why I believe leadership is very much about our own character. Leadership is about serving others. We need each other. Go help someone today! You will be blessed as you do.
